Job Description Summary
Reporting directly to the Company’s General Counsel, we are seeking an Associate Counsel to support the commercial side of the Company’s business and growing legal team. This role will focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, customer contracts, NDAs, equipment and materials purchase agreements, and service agreements. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including sales, procurement, operations, and finance—to provide practical legal guidance that aligns with business objectives and mitigates risk. This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do:
Commercial Legal
- With the assistance of the Legal Operations Manager, handle all phases of the Company’s contract review policy and process.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Conduct legal research and factual investigations as necessary.
- Handle all commercial and contractual legal disputes, pre-litigation.
- Perform product liability and risk assessment strategies to include drafting of warranties, disclaimers, review of company literature, and packaging as needed.
- Draft, review, and provide negotiation support for contracts, non-disclosure agreements, real estate, and other transactional documents.
- Coordinate trademark administration with outside counsel and Viega Germany including trademark protection.
- Prepare subject matter related policies and procedures as necessary.
Management
- Maintain and manage positive and effective relationships with internal customers, stakeholders, outside consultants, and industry peers active in commercial legal work.
- Work cross functionally to integrate with other departments and locations that manage commercial legal tasks and issues.
- As the Company’s legal function grows, manage the commercial legal team employees; conduct timely and accurate employee performance evaluations, address performance issues as needed, and provide guidance, training, motivation, review, coaching, development, and retention of a high-performing team.
Other Responsibilities
- Attends meetings and performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
- Will be required to travel up to 25% of the time.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school with 5 years of post-law school experience either in a mid-sized to large commercial law firm or in-house with a multi-lawyer legal department
- Experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus
- Admission to the Colorado Bar or reciprocal Bar
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Total Rewards Package:
Compensation
- Base: $175,000 to $210,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
- Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
