Associate Data Scientist

The Associate Data Scientist is responsible for collecting, interpreting, and publishing data to guide business decisions. Candidate must have ability to perform cleaning, transforming, and structuring of multiple disparate data sources using tools such as Python or R. Able to execute this transformation both in an ad hoc and automated manner. Use various machine learning modeling techniques based on how they are applied to different business cases. Able to present complex data sets for a variety of audiences and uses including executive presentations, operational dashboards, and structured data for interactive investigation focused on driving company objectives.



Data Scientist Processes

  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of reporting financial statements, tracking budgets along with other business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance to ensure timely distribution of reports.
  • Translate and reframe business questions into analytical plans by developing custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize operations management, financial statements, forecasting abilities, and other business outcomes.
  • Share knowledge, debate techniques, and conduct research to advance the collective knowledge and skills of our analyst teams.
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions and monitor outcomes.


  • Build statistical and machine learning models to generate insights in support of company operational metrics, forecast planning and analytics, optimize customer experiences, identify revenue generation opportunities, and other business outcomes.
  • Mine and analyze structured and unstructured data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product manufacturing development, inventory management techniques, monthly financial close, and other business strategies.
  • Execute ad hoc data investigation as part of requirements gathering or for one off requests.
  • Mine information for previously unknown patterns and insights hidden in these assets and leverage them for competitive advantage.
  • Assist with operationalizing the solutions and changing business processes to maximize the value of those solutions.

  • Will be required to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Complies with the safety rules and guidelines



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Hands-on experience working with SQL and programming languages like Python, and/or R
  • Experience with machine learning and AI
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI)
  • Strong mathematics skills (e.g., statistics, algebra)
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Azure and Spark
  • Advanced ability to perform exploratory data analysis
  • Experience with common data science toolkits
  • Working knowledge of statistics
  • Exceptional technical writing skills
  • Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
  • Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with data management tools
  • Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
  • Excellent attention to detail


Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Decision Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Finance, or Economics.
  • 1-2 years of experience in data science related fields preferred
