This position will be responsible for driving continuous improvement through identified strategic initiatives. The analyzing and presenting of analytical data to management to drive optimization and efficiency. The planning and movement of materials to support Viega’s manufacturing operations and distributions centers. Other responsibilities include project management and actionable insights to support Viega’s strategic growth initiatives.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Planner Responsibilities – Distribution Center Replenishment
- Collaborate with senior analysts, leads, and managers on technical and analytical projects.
- Drive continuous improvement by streamlining processes, developing data tools, enhancing reporting capabilities, and recommending efficiency optimizations.
- Support the design and execution of new business processes, particularly within material management workflows.
- Deliver comprehensive analyses and actionable insights to support strategic and business initiatives.
- Plans and schedules intersite transport orders utilizing SAP and the intersite algorithm to meet demand.
- Ensures the intersite shipping schedule is sufficient to meet all inventory requirements.
- Optimizes truck utilization to minimize expenses
- Reroutes customer orders when needed to increase customer satisfaction and lower transportation costs to Viega LLC
- Update and research backorders daily and determine opportunities for improvement.
Inventory Control and Capacity Planning
- Maintains system settings by reviewing variables affecting inventory levels at each distribution center, including but not limited to forecast values, range of coverage, lot sizing, rounding values, replenishment signals, intersite shipping schedules, ect.
- Meets with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and strategize on ways to optimize inventory replenishment process, including but not limited to S&OP, weekly shortage review, weekly logistics conference call, IVP/new product planning, discontinued product review, traffic management optimization, Global Material Management, ect.
- Reviews replenishment shipping schedules: monitors shipments to customers from non-originating DC and adjusts originating DC; optimize trucks for transport orders in order to minimize expenses; ensures stock balancing within distribution centers.
- Reviews master production schedule and releases orders to distribution centers based on schedules and customer demand; establishes appropriate inventory levels and determines reorder points.
Forecasting/Analysis/Recommendations
- Serves as the MRP controller for demand planning requirements for all articles from the master warehouse to the satellite DC’s to ensure proper inventory controls.
- Performs statistical ABC/XYZ analysis of all articles to maintain proper Range of Coverage based on consumption variables; defines key performance indicators to increase accuracy and performance.
- Researches and identifies root cause and corrective action for inventory discrepancies and customer backorders; recommends adjustments to variables to Supply Chain Management for implementation; ensures proper inventory levels are maintained to improve delivery to customers.
- Plans and forecasts for future inventory levels based on sales forecast, current inventory levels, and outstanding purchase orders.
- Analyzes system report to review material levels, manufacturing requirements and order status; monitors variations in forecasts, and performs corrective actions as needed.
- Researches and investigates warehouse out of stock items and implements corrective action.
- Member of Global Material Management team working with other team members towards continuous improvement opportunities; drive change and improvements related to logistics/intersite processes.
Project Management
- Manages projects, including leading project meetings; documents issues, action items, user requirements, or deliverables; updates project schedules and plans, project communications, budget tracking, etc.
- Identifies and tracks project issues, resolves issues where possible or escalates to higher management when needed; assesses and manages risks and drives mitigation activities.
- Evaluates deliverables prepared by team to ensure work meets specifications and maintains a high level of quality.
- Attends regularly scheduled meetings to provide project updates and information.
- Manages project from initial concept through final implementation, utilizing established guidelines and procedures.
- Analyze, manage and mitigate risks.
Planner Responsibilities – VMI |
- Release customer’s orders in a timely manner on agreed upon shipping agreement
- Provide excellent and prompt communication to the customer, which may include, but is not limited to backorders, tracking information, order status, order information, product information.
- Consult with internal colleagues to address any issues or process improvements which may include, but is not limited to, IT, Sales, Supply Chain, Product Management
- Maintain metrics on a monthly basis per customer.
- Maintain reporting for customers and management

- Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned
Special Job Dimensions
- Will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; SAP, WMS and MRP
- Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain processes
- Knowledge and experience with replenishment tools and applications
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills
- Ability to be self-motivated, working with minimal supervision

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
- BA or BS in math, business, supply chain or related discipline
AND
- 5 years of experience in inventory/supply chain management
- Strong experience with SAP material management required
OR
- 10 years of related work experience in inventory/supply chain management
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Total Rewards Package:
Compensation
- Base: $71,000.00 to $97,000.00 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
- Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
