Manager, Industrial Sales Strategy

The Manager, Sales Strategy position requires a high-level understanding of market verticals, customers, competition and trends; develops vertical market strategies; reviews business cases to ensure adherence to customer needs and local demands; provides support to sales teams; develop coach and retain a high performance team; oversee departmental budget strategies, implement sophisticated business strategies.  


This role will be accountable for introducing and leading market segment-based initiatives aimed at expanding the business and market position in the North America.


Levers used to implement initiatives:  

Product - Customer needs, competition, differentiation, positioning, education requirements, post-sales service available, etc. 

Price - Value of product and service to customer, life cycle, market price points, price sensitivity, price positioning, etc. 

Place - Distribution channels/network, how to sell products/services, sales force needs, etc.

Promotion - Target audience, launches, messaging, etc. 

People - Understanding needs/wants, direction/focus, alignment of resources with potential for return, etc.


This individual will also be responsible for identifying the Customers that would most benefit from our assets; focus on meeting the needs and wants of our target customers, leveraging our core assets to do so; develop and utilize knowledge and analysis of the Customer to better direct internal resources and focus. 





Continually and proactively demonstrates strong leadership and managerial skills in motivating, coaching, developing, and retaining a high performance team.

Manages employees schedules; motivates employees to improve quality of work performed; recommends training and professional development opportunities; ensures all business needs as well as employee development needs are being met.

Conducts timely and accurate employee performance evaluations; addresses performance issues



Sales Strategy

Develop and drive vertical market strategies including target group segmentation, distribution channels, and innovation opportunity

Identify and understand market trends segments, customers, competition, drivers, challenges and needs to best prioritize and draft business cases leading to premier solutions in the market

Create strategic market plans based on market knowledge and opportunities for growth

Align efforts across cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, driving and facilitating execution of strategies 

Utilizes analytics to monitor KPIs to ensure success metrics are achieved; develop countermeasures to improve metrics when necessary

Create customer driven ideas and thoroughly communicate them to the product team for inclusion in business cases

Manage product launches by creating sales plans, KPIs, defining target customers and value propositions and driving plan through completion and ensuring KPIs are met after launch

Assist with training initiatives to provide teams with necessary market expertise and value propositions to sell products; providing on-going support for field sales, product management and training departments




Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.

Performs other duties as required and/or assigned

Complies with the safety rules and guidelines


Special  Job Dimensions

Will be required to travel up to 40% of the time.

May have to work evenings and weekends as required.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business Management


Seven years related Product Management or Business Development experience, with a proven track record managing large product portfolios


Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
