The Manager, Customer and Market Insights (CMI) is responsible for growing Viegas brand equity and providing best practices for CMI. CMI partners with business users to develop insight plans, and then provides internal capabilities for designing, analyzing, and reporting projects for new products and services. The manager will collaborate with vendors, when appropriate, to execute projects when internal resources are unavailable.  This position serves as the consumer expert within the organization and is responsible for establishing an in depth understanding of the consumer and consumer segments to help grow the customer base and increase brand relevancy.


Research Analysis, Reporting and Management

    • Analyze, prepare, distribute and present reports summarizing research methodology, findings and recommendations into written text and graphical representations.
    • Partner with Viega cross-functional partners to complete quantitative studies with business-to-business customers and end-users of Viega products and services including market studies, usage & attitude studies, segmentation, concept test, products tests, brand studies and communication development tests.
    • Utilize CMI resources to complete projects.
    • Recommend and manage external market research and analytics vendors.
    • Manage and create syndicated data and ensure data integrity in all reporting.
    • Lead quantitative and syndicated research and leverage best practices in attaining data.
    • Establish and evaluate methods and procedures for collecting data and obtain existing data; ensure project objectives are met and required data is captured.
    • Assist with market studies and innovation initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Director, Technical Marketing to develop new capabilities, methods, and best practices.
    • Apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to interpret data when asked to produce substantiated recommendations for business development and growth opportunities.
    • Prepare various reports and presentations as required and/or assigned.
    • Manage budget and vendors to provide Viega maximum value.
    • Search for innovative ways to add value through Market Research.  This includes filling needs the organization may not know they have.
    • Work with cross-functional partners to advise and enhance projects they may be tasked with.  These projects may be outside the normal responsibilities of CMI.


    • Conduct timely and accurate performance evaluations; manage employees schedules; address performance issues as needed.
    • Continually and proactively demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills in recruiting, selecting, training, motivating, reviewing, coaching, developing, and retaining a high-performance team; ensure all business needs as well as employee development needs are being met.
    • Implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and intra-department communications; maintain internal relationships by encouraging and providing a timely, two-way flow of information between subordinates, management and user groups.
    • Recruit and retain talent to ensure stability of the department within Viega.


    • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned
    • Will be required to travel up to 25% of the time



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Adept in computer programs including but not limited to the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer
    • Strong working knowledge of statistics, economics, and data analysis
    • Excellent research and problem-solving skills, including data gathering and retrieval
    • Excellent analytical skills of both quantitative and qualitative data
    • Strong presentation/reporting skills including the ability to develop briefing information
    • Ability to listen and interpret non-technical requests and deliver the necessary information to fulfill the requirement.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to be detailed oriented, analytical, and methodical
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

    • Masters degree in Market Research, Marketing focus MBA or related degree
    • 8+ years of business to business, and durables market research experience
    • 2+ years of experience managing budgets and direct reports
