Job Description Summary

The Sustainability Lead will be responsible for supporting the implementation and delivery of the Company’s internal sustainability and related ESG initiatives and commitments, including progress toward our long-term emission reduction goals; the development of a culture of sustainability throughout the Company; reporting on progress, engaging with national and international colleagues; and continuing to mature our program.  

 

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives, overseeing implementation together with partners in business functions and with a focus on emissions reduction, energy optimization, and cost implications. 
  • Own Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions modeling for Viega NA, including annual inventory calculation, projections, and scenario analysis. 
  • Build and maintain robust data models to support emissions forecasting, energy demand and cost projections, abatement pathways and trade-off analysis. 
  • Develop and test hypotheses related to sourcing strategies, operational changes, and supplier impacts. 
  • Own analysis and strategic guidance on PPAs, RECs, and renewable energy sourcing, including financial and operational considerations, working with external partners and vendors for data as needed 
  • Partner closely with finance, operations, procurement, and corporate strategy functions to ensure sustainability initiatives are aligned with business objectives and financial planning. 
  • Partner with business functions and serve as a change agent to integrate sustainability into the company's core functions and practices. 
  • Prepare executive-ready presentations and materials that clearly articulate insights, implications, risks, and recommended actions. 
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and advisor to senior leadership, consistently framing sustainability discussions in a quantified fashion and business-relevant terms. 
  • Support the preparation of the sustainability report in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), working with the counterparts for Sustainability in Global functions. 
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned. 
  • Will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

 

What We're Looking For:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Exceptional critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills; able to independently frame ambiguous questions and drive them to clear conclusions 

  • Advanced proficiency in data modeling and quantitative analysis, particularly in Excel 

  • Solid understanding of GHG accounting, Scope 1–3 methodologies, and energy systems in industrial environments 

  • Knowledge of PPAs, RECs, and energy markets is strongly preferred 

  • Ability to synthesize complex analysis into concise, executive-level narratives and recommendations 

  • High degree of ownership, rigor, and comfort operating with limited direction 

  • Effective stakeholder management and influence skills across the organization 

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Finance, Economics, or similar required; Master’s degree preferred 

  • 5 -7 years of relevant experience in sustainability strategy, energy analytics, management consulting, or related analytical roles within construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors 

  • Familiarity with ESG frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, CDP, SBTi) required; CSRD is considered a plus  

  • Demonstrated experience building forward-looking analytical models used to inform senior leadership decisions

Total Rewards Package:

Compensation

  • Base: $89,000 to $122,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
