Codes and Standards Manager

The Codes & Standards Manager represents the corporate interests of Viega LLC at code meetings, standards committees and trade organizations. (S)He maintains a detailed understanding of all applicable model codes, standards and general industry developments relevant to Viega products, their applications and markets served. The Codes & Standards Manager is responsible for actively proposing, as well as evaluating external proposals for, codes and standards modifications, and communicating their impacts within the organization to obtain supporting approvals. (S)He serves as advisor to internal customers and stakeholders on regional code issues and market research projects.




Codes & Trade Organizations

  • Develop proposed code changes and submit to agency for review and approval process.
  • Attend and actively represent Viega Interests at national code meetings.
  • Within legal limits, collaborate with trade organizations and industry peers to develop and enhance national model codes for the betterment of the industry.
  • Research and monitor national and international code activities within the industry to ensure Viega products meet new or existing codes and standards requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends and inform relevant stakeholders of any changes and their potential ramifications.
  • (S)He may be required to instruct industry organizations on the correct applications and installations of Viega products as well as support Viega sales team at expo booths and other events.
  • Serve as a consultant to internal customers and stakeholders during business case development and market research projects.
  • As needed, provide support to Sales and the Technical Management Group on regional and local code compliance issues.


Standards Work

  • Based on assigned area of responsibility, actively participate on relevant committees to change existing, as well as develop future standards, utilizing each agencies respective processes and documentation.
  • Maintain excellent industry knowledge and propose membership of new committees as needed.
  • Demonstrate Viega’s leadership in the industry through official committee positions.
  • Participate in industry events and trainings to stay current with latest trends.



  • Maintain and manage positive and effective relationships with Internal customers, stakeholders certification agencies and industry peers active in standards development and product testing and certification
  • Identify codes and standards requirements in close collaboration with other team members and stakeholders; plan project and resource requirements and manage the project through completion, Including cost, timeline and deliverables.
  • Approve invoices and expenses within approval and budgetary limits



  • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned


Special  Job Dimensions

  • Will be required to travel up to 60% of the time.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer programs, Including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, CRM, SAP
  • Knowledge and experience with plumbing and heating techniques and technologies
  • Good planning, organizational and reporting skills

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of related work experience
  • Or Combination of
  • Education and 10+ years of related work experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
