Technical Field Lead

The Technical Field Sales Leader position will be responsible to drive the commercial sales strategy through the technical sales team with clear goals, objectives, and customer targets. This position will drive national specifier accounts and work with the regions to further cultivate the opportunities at a local level. This role will be empowered with dotted line reporting to the technical sales team to have input on performance and management of leads by the team. This position will lead the team on best practices, segment specific leads and disseminating information on changes in codes and standards.



•    Provides input to the Regional Sales Directors as to performance and follow up of leads by the technical sales team
•    Continually and proactively demonstrates strong leadership and managerial skills in motivating and coaching a high-performance team. 


Technical Sales
•    Drive commercial and engineer market strategy created by Sales Strategy including target group segmentation, distribution channels, and innovation opportunity 
•    Collaborate with Sales Strategy to develop strategy and provide feedback as to what is working or what opportunities exist
•    Provide direction to the technical sales team regarding customer targets and segmentation based on strategy
•    Identifies national opportunities to drive growth through specifications and develops plans and accountability for follow-up
•    Maintains overview of customer database in CRM system, including segmentation and nesting of accounts. Ensures communication to the sales team on changes or updates required to customer accounts
•    Identifies and follows up on leads provided by Inside Sales, Marketing or Sales Strategy
•    Works with Association Strategist to identify associations to attend to drive business growth and lead generation
•    Delivers professional sales presentations to various individuals and accounts in order to advance market growth
•    Initiates sales calls with national accounts; makes sales calls with technical sales team to key customers 
•    Assists with creating specifications for inclusion of products customer’s specifications
•    Utilizes analytics to monitor KPIs of industrial team to ensure success metrics are achieved; develop countermeasures to improve metrics when necessary 


•    Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.

•    Performs other duties as required and/or assigned

Special  Job Dimensions
•    Will be required to travel up to 60% of the time.
•    May have to work evenings and weekends as required.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•    Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; SAP and Business Warehouse; Salesforce
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business Management
•    Seven years successful technical sales experience required
•    Working knowledge of customers, trends, and associations in commercial building segmen
