JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Responsible for the of planning of materials to support manufacturing operation demand utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system, including but not limited to scheduling, planning and expediting of work orders; providing reports and documentation to various departments; and forecasting, developing and maintaining accuracy of master production schedule.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

Planning

  • Schedules, plans and expedites production process of work orders, utilizing SAP to meet MRP demands; monitors status and ensures timely completion; ensures production schedule is accurate and up to date. 
  • Analyzes production specifications and capacity data, and performs mathematical calculations to determine production processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established production sequences and lead times.

Reporting and Data Maintenance

  • Prepares and reviews various reports generated by SAP; directs production schedule accordingly, including but not limited to:
  • Back order report which is an overview of manufacturing and back ordered materials and requirements.
  • Priority lists which detail Range of Coverage (ROC) needed to ensure production requests are met.
  • Production orders which direct scheduling of manufacturing products to ensure we are producing correct amount of materials in order to maintain secure inventory levels to prevent backorders.
  • Provides reporting and documentation to various departments as required or requested.
  • Monitors and reports issues throughout system for errors, oversights and problems including but not limited to unreleased orders, parts shortages, incorrect quantities, etc.; creates reports for production management and customer service as needed.
  • Develops and maintains accuracy of master production schedule including but not limited to bill of material, unit of measure conversion, planning information, part descriptions, inventory records and forecasting demand to ensure data is accurate and easy to understand.

Inventory Management

  • Maintains accurate inventory levels based on manufacturing goals and customer orders to ensure production goals are met.
  • Works with purchasing department to determine vendor selection of component parts necessary to complete production of finished goods; utilizing SAP, prepares purchase orders and submits to vendor; follow-up to ensure order is timely and efficient.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability; stays current with both domestic and international issues impacting outsourcing, purchasing and the cost of materials.

  • Attends meetings as required or assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of computer software including MRP, SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Lean knowledge and proven implementation of the concepts/principles of master scheduling and pull systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of inventory management and replenishment
  • Knowledge of kanban systems
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Advanced mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand and develop complex systems, comprehend many different parts and numbers
  • Ability to interpret and do something with data, reports and metrics
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve problems
  • Ability to multi-task

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • AND
  • 5 years of  related work experience in field or related area
  • Experience with MRP controls strongly desired
  • APICS Certification preferred
  • College Degree preferred
