JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position will gather data, create, and maintain metrics used in the manufacturing processes. This includes but is not limited to defining costs, processes, time, machine usage, materials and labor associated with each manufactured product.  As well as providing reports to various departments to determine, needs and cost efficiencies using lean methodologies.  Conduct on-site audits in order to identify, design and coordinate process improvement initiatives, advising management on opportunities for efficiency and process improvement projects.  This position will also lead process improvement projects; participate in lean manufacturing workshops; perform research as needed and implement improvements and become more informed of industry standards.  This position will also serve as a backup MRP.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

Data Gathering and Analysis

  • Gather data through observation; input required information into appropriate software to obtain a step-by-step process and analysis of manufacturing processes, including but not limited to: cost, process, time, machine usage, and materials and labor used to manufacture a product; upload data for reporting purposes.
  • Perform cost analysis for various departments for purposes of capacity and budget planning; discusses options to optimize productivity. 
  • Develop and supports a system to analyze inventory requirements, capacity planning, trend analysis and application response to time testing necessary for optimization of manufacturing departments.
  • Work with various managers on analyzing and preparing data metrics to optimize performance management, capacity planning, and trend analysis and application response to time testing.

 

Data Maintenance

  • Maintain production master record and updates as necessary, including but not limited to yearly checks, cost for producing a new part or if a change in process has occurred
  • Review and improve processes to ensure areas are running efficiently and effectively in producing product output.
  • Review and make recommendation on material management settings.
  • Look for trends in production performance and investigate poor performance.

 

 

Process Improvement Initiatives

  • Using lean methodologies, conduct on-site audits in order to identify, design and coordinate process improvement initiatives.
  • Advise management on opportunities for process improvements focusing on measurable benefits.
  • Lead process improvement projects; drive projects to completion; ensure results are visible to management.
  • Participate in lean manufacturing workshops for overall process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and own lean projects that eliminate re-work, provide cost savings and increase overall productivity.
  • Support on-going process improvement efforts by continually reviewing processes and implementing necessary changes; performing research as needed in order to implement new improvements and become more informed of industry standards.

  • Assist with special projects as required and/or assigned.
  • Attend meetings as required and/or assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Help develop MRP depth.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering or other related field.
