Responsible for managing personnel and all aspects of the maintenance department; developing and implementing policy and procedures; maintaining and implementing budget strategies; ensuring team provides prompt service and customer satisfaction.
JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Management
- Manage, select, train, motivate, review, coach, develop and retain a high performance team.
- Conduct timely and accurate employee performance evaluation; address performance issues as needed.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures and intra-departmental communications; maintain managerial relationships by encouraging and providing a timely, two-way flow of information between subordinates, management, and user groups.
- Participate in operational meetings as required or necessary.
- Motivate staff to improve quality of work performed and provide training and development opportunities as needed.
- Ensure compliance in Health, Environment & Safety/Quality in all areas of operations; ensure company policies and guidelines, as set forth in the Corporate Human Resources Policy manual are followed; maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Assist with the development of the departmental budget; approve and manage expenditures; forecast short and long-range budgeting needs; ensure expenditures are in alignment with approved budget.
- Develop organizational strategies, analysis, and recommendations for corrective maintenance department; ensure objectives align with organizational objectives; continually evaluate existing processes to determine areas of improvement.
- Develop processes for follow-up; ensure team provides excellent customer service.
Equipment Maintenance
- Develop, implement and oversee the preventive and corrective maintenance programs; work with cross-functional teams to develop a program for equipment maintenance.
- Develops predictive maintenance strategies.
- Meets with cross-functional teams to identify issues, problems or concerns; gather feedback; determine or recommend appropriate corrective action; follow up to ensure customer quality and satisfaction.
- Inspect all aspects or repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies; ensure jobs are completed in a timely and efficient manner and specifications are within specified requirements; and inspection reports are completed accurately and maintained.
- Manage SAP work order process for all corrective and preventative maintenance; recommend improvements and gather required data for metric development.
- Oversee project management including supervising and coordinating with contractors; meet regularly to discuss project status and timelines.
- Conduct site inspections, and interact with employees regarding issues of maintenance.
- Reviews manufacturers’ service manuals, usage schedules and records of maintenance; develops system and checklist metrics in order to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance of all equipment, machinery and tools; maintain equipment manuals, equipment warranties and tool inventories.
- Studies production and operation schedules and works with manufacturing teams to determine when planned maintenance would least interfere with operations.
- Plans and coordinates parts and equipment so as to quickly and efficiently perform preventive maintenance with the least disruption to manufacturing.
Research and Reporting
- Develops and implements a proactive maintenance program by compiling and evaluating maintenance operations data related to process operations and equipment.
- Determines operating efficiency and effectiveness and makes recommendations regarding continued maintenance versus replacement.
- Helps develop OEE measurements with the manufacturing team and develops strategy for improvement.
- Manages metrics associated with SAP plant maintenance.
Cost Tracking
- Estimates costs of personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during scheduled maintenance; maintains tracking system of time and costs involved with repairing equipment; submits purchase requests to Purchasing; obtains proper coding and documentation; follows-up to ensure schedule is maintained and up to date.
- Develops cost tracking in SAP plant maintenance and coordinates these activities with manufacturing to make sure costing is accurate for work performed.
- Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance; inputs maintenance and machine shop’s time in excel spreadsheet by job and cost center in order to track costs; updates maintenance metrics based on priority of each job.
- Coordinates with Purchasing any necessary parts required to perform maintenance on equipment, machinery and tools.

- Attend meetings as required or assigned.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Special Job Dimensions
- May be required to travel to Germany on average once per year.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and SAP
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Solid Works
- Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
- Knowledge in operation and maintenance of facility management services, low pressure steam boilers, refrigeration and air conditioning, generators, plumbing and electrical systems, security systems, and equipment maintenance
- Ability to manage and lead a high functioning team
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings and schematics

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, preferred
- AND/OR
- 5 -7 years of Management experience required
- OR
- 10 years of Maintenance experience, with supervisory responsibilities
