JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Responsible for performing both mechanical and basic electrical root cause analysis inspections utilizing proper inspection tools; determining if failure is due to manufacturing defect, installation error, or system issues; travel to job sites to research customer warranty inquiries and troubleshoot systems; coordinating with cross-functional teams in order to provide feedback; updating and maintaining Salesforce database; Provide training and support to Reliability Technician’s and assist with questions as needed.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

 

Inspection and Analysis

 

  • Performs both mechanical and basic electrical inspections using gauges, micrometers, microscopes, and other necessary inspection tools; determines cause of part/system failure; performs root cause analysis to determine whether problem is a manufacturing defect, installation error, or system issue.
  • Inspects and performs Quality/Reliability testing of parts or products according to established standards; determines need for appropriate verification and corrective action; prepares associated reports regarding results and findings.
  • Travels to job sites to research customer warranty inquiries associated with products in order to determine if a warranty claim is due to manufacturing defect, installation error, or system issue.
  • Reports products needing further review or testing to QA Claims Manager.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams on the inspection and analysis of products returned from customers; communicates findings both orally and in writing; provides feedback and updates as needed.
  • Conduct in depth testing and failure analysis.  Identifies potential for product improvements and reduced risk/liability.
  • Works with QA Claims Manager in preparing subrogation claims; prepares detailed reports of findings to be utilized during litigation. Provides reports to and exchanges information with insurance companies.

 

Reporting and Record Maintenance

 

  • Updates and completes inspection documents of product analysis in Salesforce and CAQ databases. Makes sure the loop is closed and fully documented.
  • Maintains all necessary records and files for quality control inspections and documentation.
  • Coordinates the exchanging of information and analysis between manufacturing plants, the quality engineering team, and suppliers.
  • Maintains inventory and status of products going through failure analysis.

 

Field Support

 

  • Provide field support and site visits, as required, to customers, contractors, and internal sales team regarding technical issues and/or warranty claims.
  • Review and assist with warranty claim analysis to determine if failure was due to product or installation issues.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams regarding warranty claims; provide both verbal and written analysis of findings; communicate analysis and resolution; gather and assist task force teams for high-risk claims.
  • Review lab analysis of warranty claims and determine if findings are sufficient, or if further testing is required.
  • Make improvement recommendations to cross-functional teams regarding potential issues with a product or product line.

 

Subrogation Claim Analysis

 

  • Provide in depth failure analysis and expert reports for litigation claims.
  • Attend joint inspections and act as our resident expert.
  • Interact and provide information as needed for representing counsel.
  • Provide support as needed to Warranty Claims Manager on litigation claims.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, CRM, SAP, CAQ, SalesForce, CAD Programs
  • Knowledge of all products sold in the USA
  • Complete Viega LLC boot camp training
  • Knowledge of gages and testing equipment
  • Knowledge in handling subrogation claims
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform root cause failure analysis
  • Ability to perform basic design and assembly of products

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a PE License preferred or ability to become licensed.
  • 5 years’ experience in handling warranty claims, inspections and failure analysis.
  • ASQ certifications preferred. (Black Belt, Green Belt, CQI, CQT)
  • ASPE Certified Plumbing Design Technician or Certified Plumbing Design preferred.
