QA Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The QA Technician is responsible for training and developing quality inspectors and new manufacturing employees in molding and extrusion on quality requirements; reviewing and analyzing quality data; completing Gage R & R (repeatability and reproducibility) studies; identifying quality related issues and utilizing the CAPA system to help solve those issues; involved heavily in Quality Assurance projects, leading meetings and task groups in regards to quality. Utilize Quality tools to analyze the manufacturing processes
What You'll Do:
Training
- Train and develop quality inspectors and new manufacturing employees on the proper use of quality tools; how to properly inspect and test products according to established guidelines and procedures; answer questions and handles problems as needed.
- Train employees on the proper data and information to enter in CAQ; review data to ensure accuracy; follows-up with discrepancies and initiates corrective actions.
Inspection and Analysis
- Review and analyze data in Quality systems in order to prepare reports and complete analysis; compare test results with applicable standards.
- Perform Inspections of new products, manufactured and purchased, as documented by Quality Management Systems (QMS); ensure proper methods and forms are followed; approve or reject products according to established guidelines.
- Responsible for completing Gage R&R (repeatability and reproducibility) studies with lab gages and equipment; ensure measurements and processes are consistent and established guidelines are followed.
- Measure dimensions of products to verify conformation to specifications, using measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, CMM machine, etc.
- Report non-conformance issues to proper personnel; communicate with various personnel issues relating to quality.
Quality Reporting and Lab QMS Maintenance
- Develop, write and review QMS Documentation for the quality lab; report any non conformances to management.
- Document inspection results utilizing written reports and electronic data entry; maintain necessary files and records for quality control inspections and other related documentation.
- Review product dimensional data and report trends on data entered in CAQ and report findings to management; ensure all inspections are completed as required, all products are running within statistical process control (SPC) tolerances and all information is available to complete inspections as needed.
- Initiate teams to work on CAPA’s (corrective and preventive actions) to solve ongoing quality related issues in manufacturing. Follows up on the progress and current state of CAPA’s.
- Update inspection plans in CAQ for all manufactured products as well as products purchased from suppliers.
- Support and assists with plant audits by providing required information and follow-up.

- Support quality projects as needed or required.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Travel when required to offsite locations for training and/or working with our suppliers.
What We're Looking For:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, CAQ, CRM and SAP
- Knowledge of gages and other inspection equipment
- Knowledge of math in order to compute measurements and perform studies
- Knowledge of quality control systems
- Ability to problem solve

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4-8 years of related experience preferred
- ASQ Certificates Desired: CQT (Quality Technician) NOTE: Certifications are not a requirement of hire but preferred to be obtained within 2 years of employment

Total Rewards Package:
Compensation
- Base: $19.00 - $23.00 hourly, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
- Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
