JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Canadian Codes & Inspectors Manager represents the corporate interests of Viega LLC at regional, provincial and local code meetings, inspector trainings and trade organizations. This job maintains a detailed understanding of all applicable national model codes, standards and general industry developments, and how they influence regional, provincial and local codes relevant to Viega products, their applications and markets served. The Canadian Codes & Inspectors Manager is responsible for actively proposing, as well as evaluating external proposals for, code modifications and adoptions, and communicating their impacts within the organization to obtain supporting approvals. This role serves as advisor to internal customers and is the primary stakeholder for regional/provincial/local code issues and market research projects. Additionally, this role coordinates and drives the understanding of local inspectors on code changes and adoptions.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

Responsibilities

Codes & Trade Organizations

  • Develop proposed code changes for adoption and submit to local Authority having jurisdiction for review and approval process.
  • Attend and actively represent Viega interests at regional/provincial/local code and inspector meetings.
  • Within legal limits, maintain membership in and collaborate with trade organizations such as Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) and industry peers to develop and enhance regional codes for the betterment of the industry.
  • Research and monitor local and regional code activities within the industry to ensure Viega products meet new or existing codes and standards requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends and inform relevant stakeholders of any changes and their potential ramifications.
  • May be required to instruct industry organizations on the correct applications and installations of Viega products as well as support Viega sales team at expo booths and other events.
  • Serve as a consultant to internal customers and stakeholders during business case development and market research projects.
  • Provide support to Sales and the Technical Management Group on regional and local code compliance issues.
  • Drive understanding and advocate for product acceptance with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and inspectors.
  • Where applicable, join local code committees to gain voting positions.

Management

  • Maintain and manage positive and effective relationships with internal customers, stakeholders, certification agencies and industry peers active in standards development and product testing and certification
  • Identify codes and standards requirements in close collaboration with other team members and stakeholders; plan project and resource requirements and manage the project through completion, including cost, timeline and deliverables.
  • Approve invoices and expenses within approval and budgetary limits
  • Work in tandem with national Canadian Codes and Standards Manager to promote Viega products within Canada and ensure Codes allow their use

  • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned

Special Job Dimensions

  • Will be required to travel up to 60% of the time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer programs, Including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, CRM, SAP
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with plumbing and heating techniques and technologies
  • Good planning, organizational and reporting skills

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of related work experience, preferably in inspector or code compliance related roles
  • Eligible to serve on Canadian code committees

Or Combination of

  • Education and 10+ years of related work experience

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
