Job Description Summary
The Engineering Specifications Lead manages and mentors a regional team of Field Applications Engineers, with a focus on driving product specification inclusion. This position works closely with the leadership and Regional Sales Managers to develop and execute strategies that build strong relationships with MEP and Design/Build firms. Retains responsibility for the top five strategic accounts in their home territory to support growth and remove sales barriers.
What You'll Do:
- Meets regularly with team to review goals, strategies, and prospects; tracks team KPIs and other performance metrics; ensures activities of team align with overall regional and territory plans.
- Actively supervises and provides strong leadership to direct reports – including hiring, onboarding, training, performance and talent management, timekeeping and related processes, and engagement .
- Develops and implements a strategic plan for the assigned territory to support sales in achieving budget; implement plans for strategic accounts within specified territory.
- Supports regional sales efforts through close coordination with technical leadership and other internal stakeholders.
- Builds and maintains long-term relationships with MEP engineers, architects, general contractors, EPCs, builders, and manufacturing accounts to ensure the inclusion of company products across all sections of their specifications, with the ultimate goal of being listed in their master specifications.
- Executes account strategies as directed by management, aligned with corporate objectives. Assists in developing strategic plans for key accounts within the assigned territory to exceed goals in revenue growth, account profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Delivers professional presentations to key stakeholders—including engineers, architects, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials, educators, and design/build contractors—using appropriate resources to drive market growth and promote product adoption.
- Collaborates closely with external customers and partners, as well as internal sales and product engineering teams, to develop and maintain strong technical relationships. Understands customer product strategies, requirements, and constraints to align company solutions with their needs.
- Partners with cross-functional teams to revise existing specifications and assist in the development of new ones. Identify industry-specific requirements and recommend specification changes to support the integration of Viega products in projects. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of client commitments.
- Provides technical support to internal stakeholders, including leadership, Industrial Sales Managers, National Accounts, and Technical Marketing, for the review and development of engineering and product guide specifications as requested.
- Travels to various locations to provide in-person support, as needed or requested, in alignment with overall business strategy.
- Liaises with local code officials to obtain approval for both existing and new products.
- Works with local inspectors to address and resolve product installation questions or concerns.
- Maintains and regularly updates Salesforce, including the engineering guide specification database, to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Provides reporting and updates to management, both ongoing and as requested regarding field activity, specification inclusion, competitors, forecasts, industry trends and new products, as well as business metrics.
- Participates in local societies, including but not limited to ASPE, ASHRAE, etc. to promote an understanding of Viega products and technologies.
- Attends meetings as required or assigned.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Will be required to travel up to 30% of the time.

- Proficient in the use of common office equipment and software – including: computers, printers, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint
- Experienced in the use of CRM tools and their application in sales environments
- Detailed knowledge of codes and standards

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Civil engineering (or related field), or applicable licensure (CPD, GPD, etc.) required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
- 5-7 years of professional experience in piping design and/or installation required
- 3-5 years of experience leading teams required
- Current and valid Driver License required

Total Rewards Package:
Compensation
- Base: $120,000.00 - $157,800.00, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
- Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
